An alternative to acupuncture with needles is called sho-ni-shin. Sho-ni-shin is a gentle and non-intrusive form of Japanese bodywork that uses small metal tools on the body’s surface at specific acupuncture points. Sho-ni-shin is needle-less. At no time does this technique penetrate the skin. Children like holding the tool, or playing with the other tools, or trying to guess which tool is being used without seeing it. Even a very guarded or frightened child will usually warm up to sho-ni-shin in a short amount of time.
Sho-ni-shin has been successful at treating a number of ailments in children such as colic, digestive disorders, asthma, allergies, pain, headaches, earaches and more. From the minor ailments to the more difficult health issues, Carly Kirby and the Timbre team specialize in their work with children.
